My Cave

February 23rd, 2009

I’m a believer in the need for nerd caves, so I took a couple of pictures of my own using my iPhone:

The Office: Bookshelves & Test Rig The Office: Workstations

I’ve been renting space from The House Theatre of Chicago for a couple of months now, and I’ve managed to create a nice space where Stuff Gets Done.

The picture on the left shows my Ikea bookshelf and my PowerMac G4 test equipment. The picture on the right is of my two computers. I use the iMac with the external monitor as my primary workstation, while the MacBook serves as my e-mail and task management machine.

One of the great things about this space is that I share it with a group of amazingly creative and hardworking people. I have the perfect balance of “leave me alone and let me work” versus “hey, what do you think about this idea”.

The one thing that I am missing is a view, but I’ve been thinking about mounting a small 24″ television above the main workstation that can serve as an artificial window and large-scale peripheral display. (I’ve got to make some money to pay for it first!)

All in all, I’m very happy with the space and it’s perfect for where I’m at now in my personal and business life.
